RE: Unconstitutional Blocking (and/or) Comment Deletions of Social Media Users Who Make Critical Comments
Dear City Commissioners, Mayor, Rome Police Department and Denise Downer-McKinney:
I am glad that your Office has embraced social media to interact with the public. However, I am deeply concerned by what looks like your Office’s illegal suppression of free speech on your official Facebook account. I was able to use social media to voice my views directly to you and your staff until I was blocked by your official account, and my comments on posts to your official account were deleted because I criticized and published content regarding a former officer with your agency named Dylan Wright, I also have open records outstanding regarding Dylan. I have attached screenshots proving that my comments were deleted and I was blocked, while other comments that were neutral or praised you remain on your page with their senders apparently not blocked. Providing different levels of access to official social media pages violates the First Amendment, and I strongly urge your Office to stop unconstitutionally censoring me by preventing me from engaging with your page community and pages.
I also would like to inquire about the fact your agency uses a non law enforcement private civilian to operate your Facebook page from home and I am also concerned she has not had the proper constitutional training to interact with the public on behalf of the Rome Police Department.
My comments may seem strong, they may offend, your feelings do not override the United States Constitution. I am well within my boundaries of free speech.
To summarize, my civil rights were violated under the First Amendment, Freedom of speech, Freedom or Press, Freedom of expression and deprived the right to petition the government.

I had to ask if she was a cop, she said no but I wonder how many don’t question it?

Rome Police department blocked me and deleted links and comments I posted about this video below..
I called and spoke to Sergeant Sutton and explained the situation. He advised me it was possibly Kelly Madden, a citizen that runs their Facebook page, while sick, from home, with covid, she still manages to delete, ban and suppress free speech. I then received a message from the Rome Police Department Facebook messenger that read “Thanks for being so kind. I really appreciate getting yelled at when I can’t even breathe.”
The person was still deleting posts from other users and cited policy 🙂
Guess where I am on this? “Take Action”!!

The person claimed the Rome Police Departments public Facebook page was a marketing platform even though the page has been verified as a government organization.
