The investigation into Officers Melvin Potter and Iscah Njoku concluded that there was insufficient evidence to confirm the allegations of misconduct. Officer Njoku had accused Officer Potter of physically assaulting her during incidents that occurred at his apartment and her residence, including claims of being thrown out of his apartment and choked after revealing her pregnancy. However, the investigation revealed conflicting accounts from both parties. Witnesses, such as Officer Shanquisha Murray and Officer Che Milton, were not physically present during the incidents, making their testimonies less direct.

Potter’s roommate, Marcel Hutcherson, supported Potter’s version of events, but his account was viewed as potentially biased due to their close relationship. Both Potter and Njoku underwent CVSA tests, with Potter showing deception on one question, while Njoku’s results indicated no deception regarding certain key allegations.

Despite these conflicting accounts, the investigation concluded that neither officer violated work rules. The case against Officer Potter was classified as “Not Sustained,” and the case against Officer Njoku was “Exceptionally closed.”

Officer Iscah Njoku and Melvin Potter were dating.

Response from Atlanta PD on this request

Here is an email Njoku sent me herself, in regards to me publishing these records.

Njoku is also the open records custodian for East Point PD. Notice the time she emailed me, she is using the police email system to conduct personal inquiries. I guess it’s some weak flex to intimidate? Who knows.
