Leon Mitchell, 32, worked for the Warwick Police Department near Albany in south Georgia.
32-year-old officer with the Warwick Police Department, was arrested on February 4, 2022, for allegedly selling marijuana while on duty and in uniform. Charges include sale/distribution of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute, and violation of oath of office.

To Whom It May Concern,
Pursuant to the Georgia Open Records Act (O.C.G.A. § 50-18-70 et seq.), I am formally requesting access to public records related to former employee Leon J. Mitchell, who was employed with your agency from December 17, 2019, until his termination on January 28, 2022.
Please provide the following records:
- Image on file / official service photograph
- Any Garrity Warnings issued to or signed by Leon J. Mitchell
- Termination case files, including but not limited to:
- Internal investigation reports
- Written and recorded interviews
- Body-worn and/or dash camera footage
- Any audio/video surveillance or recordings
- Any other materials documenting the basis for termination
These records should be retained under LG-19-092 | Internal Investigations, which specifies:Retention: Founded: 20 years after settlement of case; Unfounded: 1 year after investigation completed.
Since the outcome was founded, the records are required to be retained and remain subject to public disclosure. - The first page of all use of force reports involving Leon J. Mitchell during his tenure.
- Information on the body-worn camera and dash camera systems used by your agency (manufacturer, model, and storage system if applicable).
