SANDY SPRINGS POLICE DEPARTMENT
DECERTIFIED 2023 DECEPTIVE IN AN INTERNAL INVESTIGATION
The internal investigation into Officer Christopher Wright of the Sandy Springs Police Department revealed serious concerns about his behavior, including drinking while driving—both in his patrol and personal vehicle—using steroids without a prescription, and expressing suicidal thoughts.
Officer Wright was caught in multiple lies during the investigation and failed a polygraph test. He ultimately resigned on March 4, 2022. Reports indicate a history of alcohol abuse, reckless behavior, and family instability, including a disturbing incident where he intended to die by suicide while attending a firearms training course in Alabama. He recorded a goodbye video for his children but ultimately did not follow through.
Concerns were raised about his worsening mental health, erratic behavior linked to steroid use, and the potential danger he posed to himself, his family, and the public. Despite being provided resources, he resisted seeking professional help.

Sgt. Roskind,
On 02/08/2022, Officer A. Davis contacted me with some concerns about Officer Christopher Wright. Her concerns were he was talking about self-harm, he was drinking alcohol in his patrol vehicle driving off-duty, he was driving while under the influence off duty, and he was taking steroids/testosterone without a prescription.
The initial investigation showed some inconsistences with Officer Wright’s explanations of the facts of this case. During the interviews with Officer Wright he was caught in some lies and still denied not being truthful.
On 02/28/22, Officer Wright submitted to a polygraph examination in which the operator found that deception was indicated during the exam.
On 03/04/2022, Officer Wright resigned his position with the Sandy Springs Police Department.
Let me know if you need anything further.
Best regards,
Capt. David Lapides
