What is a Brady cop?
A Brady cop refers to a law enforcement officer who has been found to have engaged in conduct that affects their credibility, such as lying, fabricating evidence, or committing perjury. The term originates from the landmark Brady v. Maryland (1963) Supreme Court case, which established that prosecutors are required to disclose any exculpatory evidence (evidence favorable to the defense) to the defendant. This includes any information that could impeach the credibility of government witnesses, including police officers.
When a cop is labeled a “Brady cop,” it means that their past misconduct has been deemed significant enough that prosecutors are required to disclose it to defense attorneys in cases where the officer might testify. The officer’s credibility could undermine the prosecution’s case, especially if they have a documented history of dishonesty or misconduct.

On April 22, 2020, Investigator James McQuaig handcuffed and arrested Plaintiff. (Id. at 5.) Unnamed officers of the Richmond County Sheriff’s Department and Investigator McQuaig proceeded to beat Plaintiff, to the point Plaintiff could not identify the officers involved. (Id.) The television show “Live Cops” recorded the interaction. (Id.) Plaintiff suffered a detached retina from the incident. (Id.)
The officers then transported Plaintiff to the county jail for booking, however the nurse on site “would not accept Plaintiff in [his] condition and demanded [he] was taken to the emergency room.” (Id.) Plaintiff was then taken to University Hospital in Augusta, Georgia.
Plaintiff filed grievances through the jail administration, however the responses informed Plaintiff this was an issue for the courts. (Id. at 7-8.) For relief Plaintiff seeks for dismissal of all his charges and $500,000.00 in punitive damages for his pain and suffering

The 911 call, proving Megan had plenty of time to follow policy and activate her BWC. The call started at 9:59 according to the CAD sheet above. Inman activated her body cam 5 minutes later, even though she knew she was stopping citizen X and she called for assistance she still waited until she assaulted citizen X before she activated. This is a violation of policy.
Richmond County Sheriff’s Office body worn camera policy (BWC)
It shall be the policy of the RCSO that deputies shall activate their BWC to record all calls for service, criminal investigations and any other incident that the deputy believes should be recorded. The system shall be activated by pressing the “record” button. Once the BWC has been activated, it shall remain on until the incident has reached a conclusion or the deputy departs the scene. Any and all conversations with a subject on a field interview shall be recorded using the BWC. If the deputy fails to activate the BWC, fails to record the entire event or interrupts the recording, the deputy shall document why the recording was not made, was interrupted or was prematurely terminated.

RCSO personnel shall not, in any manner, attempt to modify, alter, erase or tamper with any portion of a BWC recording. Violations shall be deemed a serious offense punishable by severe sanctions including termination from employment
Deputies shall not remove data chips or download data. Deputies shall inspect and test the BWC prior to each shift in order to verify proper functioning. Deputies shall not edit, alter, erase, duplicate, share or otherwise distribute in any manner BWC recordings
The dumb part, yeah right, the BWC IS the best witness, not the garbage these cops write!
BWC recordings are not a replacement for well written and comprehensive reports.
All files will be securely downloaded at the end of each shift. The Digital Technician(s) shall be responsible
for this process to include efficient downloading. All access to BWC data must be specifically authorized by the Digital Technician(s) pursuant to SOP. The DT(s) shall have an access audit component to ensure that only authorized users are accessing data.
RETENTION and DISTRIBUTION
Data files of non-traffic stop or non-arrest incidents shall be retained for a period of at least 180 days according to OCGA 50-18-96 unless a complaint regarding the incident is filed. Data files of all other contacts shall be retained until adjudication and appeals are completed
Open Records Requests will be handled by the Internal Affairs Division. Only a copy of the original recording
of a specific incident may be released. The original copy shall not be released unless ordered to do so by a
valid court order. If a member of the RCSO requests a copy of a recorded incident for court purposes, that
request shall be made as soon as possible but at least seven (7) days before court. All data chips/cards/disks
shall be considered as evidence and stored as such.
Open Records Requests by the media shall be directed to the Internal Affairs Division/PIO. RCSOOpenRecords@augustaga.gov
